| Walt's "Elder 40"
All action photo's were taken by Don Fitch, and the static photos were taken by Walt Wilson. This is Walt Wilson's Elder 40 which is the "Gold Edition" update to a kit originally designed by AMA District VI VP Charlie Bauer in the 80's. It has new CAD drawings and updated die and laser cutting technology.
The wingspan is 65.5" and it weighs
93 ounces. The engine is an O.S.
.46 FX which offers plenty of power. It's covered with Flat Cream Monokote and the cowl is Chrome Monokote. The wheels are 4-3/8" diameter vintage Williams Brothers.
The pilot ("Sir Reggie") and machine gun are 1/6th
scale Williams Brothers' products. It flies like a well-designed trainer,
and is capable of modest
aerobatics. |
