Membership Chairman’s Report
Ralph Doyle, Chairman

If a person asks if he can fly and is not a member, be sure to ask to see his AMA card. The PayPal system is available for you to renew your membership. The current membership now stands at 103. By the middle of March last year we had 90 members. If you have not paid your dues by the end of the March meeting, you are “in arrears” and the membership dues for late joiners are raised by an additional $25.00. I have reported our membership to Mark Twain Hobby. This is to let them know to give our members a 10% price reduction for their purchases. I also purged the members from the AMA membership rolls. The members, at the meeting voted to allow current members of another club to join the Spirits at the reduced rate of $100 a year. Details are being finalized by Ralph Grant among the clubs involved.

Old Business:

Once again the discussion of grass cutting was brought up. The current company has submitted a bid for the next three years. There has been additional interest in cutting the field by our previous mowing company and a new company would like to bid on the contract. After some discussion the members decided that the current company has been accepted to cut the grass for the current year, (refer to the Feb. minutes) and we may ask for bids at the end of this year’s mowing season. There are no activities scheduled until the April 3, 2021 field workday.

New Business:

There will be Spring clean-up at the field, April 3rd. Ralph Grant proposed that the efforts put out in the service to the club by Ralph Doyle and Dave Brown should entitle them for free membership. The motion was made, seconded and passed. Wayne Nenninger is in need of 3 or 4 6′ rolls of olive drab Monokote to be able to finish his P-47. Please contact him directly at: Wnenninger@gmail.comThe next club meeting will be at the field April 13, at 7:00PM.

Presentation:

Three planes were brought to the meeting: Chris Sostman displayed a modified Q-500. Dan Morrison bought the Big Stick 40 for $175, which was then donated to the club by Lew Shipley. Also donated by Lew were two 4 stroke engines that were bought be Dave Harrington for $120 which was also donated to the club. Paul Geders is helping Lew dispose of his inventory. Call Paul if you are interested in finding out what is available. And if anyone has to be told that the bent wing plane is an F-4U Corsair hasn’t been around planes very long. This 1700mm wingspan plane, shown by Robert Wilson is being pulled by an 18 inch prop, to give you a relative idea of its’ size. The plane is foam but to look at the finish you would not know it.
